Polyurethane vacuum casting

How it works?
Master mould: We prepare a master mould using 3D printing or CNC machining which is made from SLA or SLS. Both provide smooth finish.
Silicon Tool: We pour the liquid silicon in the mould and leave it so that it dries. Once it dries out, we take out the mould which leaves the cavity.
Casting: The resin is poured in the cavity and creates a product replica.
Vacuum casting provides consistent quality like an injection moulding product and saves the cost as it is more economical. Vacuum casting enables you to quickly recreate hundreds of the parts within small span of time.
There are some points to be kept in mind while vacuum casting. Need to take care of the wall thickness. Same as in injection moulding, we need a consistency throughout the model for proper finish and do not design over thick components or walls so as to protect from shrinkage.
Reduce tooling cost: The cost of the mould used in vacuum casting is exceptionally low as compared to injection moulding where we use Aluminium or steel tools.
Lead time of tooling: Manufacturing from urethane casting is less time consuming (8-10 days) then the traditional injection moulding (4-6 weeks).
